Bachelor of Divinity is a four-year degree course under the Senate of Serampore College. Graduates and Post Graduates from recognised Universities and B.Th. graduates are eligible to undertake B.D. studies, provided they pass the ATC entrance examination and interview.
The College follows the semester system for its B.D. and M.Th. programmes. The First Semester begins in June and ends in September. The Second Semester begins in mid-October and ends in mid-April. Examinations are conducted at the end of each Semester. In March/April students have to write the College examination in addition to the Senate examination.
Examinations are conducted at the end of every semester. The pass marks for each subject are 40%. The grading system of the Senate of Serampore College is as follows:

Notes for B.D. Students:
1) All B.D. students are expected to write a Bible Knowledge Examination at the end of the First Semester every academic year.
2) B.D. and M.Th. candidates will have to follow the new curriculum (Regulations and Syllabus - [Revised Edition 2014]) for BD which the Senate of Serampore College has introduced from 201-2011 and for M.Th 2017edition.
3) B.D. Final Year students have to write Library Knowledge Examination in the Second Semester.
As per the requirements of the Senate of Serampore College, B.D. students must undergo a field education programme, which has been credited since the 2010 academic session. If students fail to fulfil this requirement they will not be awarded their degrees.
Field Education is an integral part of ministerial training in which all BD students are requested to actively participate. The faculty has worked out manual of field education for the College according to which field education programmes have been carried on.
There are two kinds of field education namely concurrent and intensive. Concurrent field education refers to those field education programmes undertaken concurrently with the academic sessions. It includes regular Sunday church visit, mission exposure, attending presbytery meetings and practical exposure and reflection in relation to some of the courses of study.
Intensive field education refers to those programmes conducted during semester break or winter vocation in an intensive manner at the length of 20 days each year. It includes working with NGOs for B.D. I, Urban and Rural Field Education for B.D. II, Engagement with Pastoral Ministry for B.D. III. In every programme there will be orientation and reflective reports sessions.
