Aizawl Theological College have seen many highly eligible and qualified Principals in its entire history, now comes the turn of Rev. Prof. Vanlalnghaka Ralte, Profosssor of New Testament. The process of Rev. Prof. Vanlalnghaka’s appointment to this coveted post has started with election of him to the post by the Synod Executive Committee last Ocotber 2018 and final approval by the Synod Annual Meeting held during early December last year; and culminated with his Installion by the Synod Moderator.
The Installation of Rev. Prof. Vanlalnghaka Ralte as the Principal––held at the College Chapel on January 10, 2019––was witnessed by the Members of Synod Theological Education Board (comprising of the Moderator, Synod Secretaries, Senior Executive Secretary, i/c Theological Education, and Senior Ministers and Elders of local churches, etc), a good number of Faculty and Staff, and students of the College.
In his Installation Message, the New Principal highlighted his future vision for the College in terms of expansional academic growth and infra-stucture and media facilities. To quote:
“For the future of the college, the guidance and vision of Theological Education Board (TEB) who looked after the College on behalf of the Synod is crucial. Deeper cooperation with the Senate of Serampore Collge (University), connection with international theological insitutions, with students and faculties are significant.”
The new Principal added,
“The collge needs to strengthen the academic courses that are offered – BD, M.Th, D.Th. We need to concentrate more on research and other higher education. To enable such things, we should develop our infra-structure (eg. Library, seminar hall, etc.) and internet/electronic media facilities.”
Rev. Prof. Vanlalnghaka Ralte (born in October 10, 1960) is the secold eldest son of the late V.L. Rawna and Ngurmawii. He received his B.Sc (Hons) and M.Sc (Zoology) from NEHU, and studied BD and M.Th at the United Theological College, Bangalore and D.Th. at the Federated Faculty for Research in Religion and Culture (FFRRC) in Kottayam, Kerala. He is Professor of New Testament, and has served the College in various capacities, Registrar and Vice Principal are the prominent ones. Currently, he is a Member of Research Committee of Senate of Serampore College.
