Course Offered

The College offers the following courses:

 

  1. Bachelor of Divinity (B.D):

Bachelor of Divinity degree programme is a four-year course. Graduates and above from recognised Universities are eligible to undertake BD studies. B.Th./BMISS/BCS graduates shall join for two-year BD programme, beginning from 3rd year of BD; they have to pass English I & II or qualifying Senate paper Examination. Additionally, they have to do Preliminary Greek and Hebrew as compulsory College Examined papers. ATA BTH students have to pass BD Qualifying Examination (8 papers) from the Senate of Serampore College, before joining the BD degree programme.

  1. Master of Theology (M.Th):

The MTh degree programme is oriented towards equipping men and women at an academic level higher than that of BD programme for various ministries of the church.  The duration of the course is two academic years. Candidates holding a Serampore B.D. (with B Grade, i.e., 60% and B+ Grade in the subject) or its equivalent, along with required specialisation papers, are eligible to undertake M.Th. studies. At present, the College is offering M.Th. studies in seven disciplines, namely – Old Testament, New Testament, Christian Theology, History of Christianity, Religions, Missiology and Christian Counselling.

  1. Doctor of Theology (D.Th):

Doctor of Theology is a three-year residential doctoral programme offered by the Senate of Serampore College. Candidates holding a Serampore M.Th. (with B Grade i.e., 60% and above) or its equivalent are eligible to undertake this programme. The College offers the D.Th. programme in Christian Theology, New Testament, Missiology, Counseling, History of Christianity and Old Testament.

  1. Diploma in Clinical Pastoral Counselling (D.C.P.C):

The College has introduced the Diploma in Clinical Pastoral Counselling (D.C.P.C.) to provode skills for pastors and others to engage in the healing ministry of the church in the congregations, institutions and in the society in general.

 

 

Non- residential Course:

Aizawl Theological College serves as a local centre for three Extension Programmes i.e., Bachelor of Christian Studies (B.C.S.), the Diploma in Christian Studies (Dip.C.S.) and Doctor of Ministry (D. Min) of the Senate of Serampore College. The objective of this programme is to provide theological education to lay leaders and members of the local church community who do not have the opportunity to go for residential theological education.

 

  1. Diploma in Christian Studies (Dip.C.S.)

Candidates desirous of doing the diploma course in Christian Studies (Dip. C.S.) are required to have passed Higher Secondary School (10+2) or its equivalent. Candidate should have completed 18 years of age at the time of enrolment. The course is offered in English and in Mizo medium.

 

  1. Bachelor of Christian Studies (B.C.S):

To be eligible to study the B.C.S. course, a candidate must be graduate of a recognised university. A holder of the Dip.C.S. certificate of the Senate of Serampore College is also eligible to undertake the B.C.S. course

  1. Doctor of Ministry (D.Min):

Recognizing the importance of continuing theological education for full time Ministers in the service of the Church, the Senate of Serampore College has offered a special programme for them: the Doctor of Ministry programme. The Mizoram Presbyterian Church Synod is encouraging its ordained Ministers to register for the same. Aizawl Theological College has been given the responsibility of co-ordinating this programme for them. Recognizing the importance of continuing theological education for full time Ministers in the service of the Church, the Senate of Serampore College has offered a special programme for them: the Doctor of Ministry programme.
